Defining a Business Continuity Policy

Creating a comprehensive document that outlines how we will guarantee business continuity in the face of adverse or risky situations for IT services

Commitment and fairness are non-negotiable values for us. They define our identity and guide the choices we make. Our daily actions are driven by our unwavering dedication to our long-standing principles, rigorous adherence to ethics, and strict regulatory compliance, all upheld by our traditional governance system.

Governance system and sustainability governance

Since our founding, we have embraced a traditional corporate governance model that includes:

  • Board of Directors
  • Board of Statutory Auditors
  • Auditing company (in charge of external assurance)

In 2021, Markas Italy formed a Permanent Committee to support the progressive integration of sustainability into governance and business activities. The Committee plays a central role in the sustainability reporting process, working alongside the top management to ensure the integrity of the process and acting as a coordinator for the relevant Group companies.

Fight against corruption and risk management

Aware of the detrimental impact of corruption on economic and social development, we actively prevent and combat unlawful practices throughout our operations.

Cybersecurity

The growing necessity to operate online has driven us to bolster our computer security and implement measures to mitigate the risk of cyber incidents, such as malware attacks.

The 4 foundations of our cybersecurity strategy

  • Security: We have implemented advanced systems, including firewalls, to intercept and block perimeter threats before they can cause harm. This initiative includes enhancing the security of our regional offices in Italy and abroad, our data centre, and secure connections for our contracts.
  • Training: A key to success is engaging people in continuous training programmes. This empowers individuals to identify and effectively defend against threats, both professionally and personally.
  • Control: The extensive data we gather from our security and control systems must be correlated to fully understand the nature of threats. Our goal is to implement a centralised governance system for the entire infrastructure, facilitating precise and well-contextualised interpretation of information.
  • Protection: To increase the protection of workstations and servers at Markas’ offices as well as contract sites, we are adopting technologically advanced solutions. This includes replacing our previous anti-virus software with a modern, AI-based solution capable of analysing threats based on their behaviour.

Strengthening Intra-Group Control and Sustainable Governance

In 2023, we conducted a feasibility study to implement an intra-group control unit specifically focused on two policies: Sustainable Reporting Procedure and Procedural Model of Governance. Italy and Austria have been collaborating for many years, conducting integrated analysis of operational, financial and compliance risks to ensure uniformity and coherence. Additionally, we regularly organise Group-level meetings dedicated to ethical business practices and transparency.
