Check me Now: speeding up client feedback

Check me Now” is an artificial intelligence system that will be installed in the busiest bathrooms managed by the company and will give patients and visitors the opportunity to provide feedback on cleanliness. Through this system, it is possible to optimise the frequency of cleaning through a visitor counting mechanism and measure the temperature and humidity of the space, as well as to receive reports on disturbances or consumption of materials. The “Check me Now” system was launched in 2022 as part of a pilot project at the University Hospital in St. Pölten, Austria, and was very well received by clients, patients as well as visitors.

The collaboration with Clab

Clab is a social cooperative active in the Bolzano community, which provides support to individuals with cognitive, mental and physical disabilities.

The collaboration with Clab began in 2019, when Markas decided to renew its corporate image, entrusting them with transforming the corporate material, such as brochures, cards and leaflets. The collaboration continued for the creation of Christmas cards, which are given out annually to our clients, making the customary Christmas donation to the Cooperative.

In 2022, again during the Christmas period, Markas collaborated with Clab to create a concept that would communicate the focus on inclusion within the company. The goal of the collaboration was to depict and narrate diversity and inclusion in Markas, whose workforce of over 11,000 employees includes more than 90 different nationalities. As part of this initiative, Markas sponsored a 5 day painting course in which 17 employees participated creating about 90 portraits. This pattern was also printed on bottles donated as a Christmas gift, both to clients and to Clab.

Student & Company Sprint – new solutions for a circular economy

During 2022, Markas participated in the first edition of the “Student & Company Sprint”, an initiative organised by NOI TechPark, the innovative hub located in Bolzano, and the Free University of Bolzano. During the 5 days of workshops and interventions, which saw the participation of local companies from South Tyrol and university students, multiple topics were covered, all with a single common thread: the circular economy. Solutions were proposed in this area to improve the sustainability of companies.

In particular, the team of students who analysed our company proposed solutions for our collective catering services, in particular for the Bolzano office canteen.

The students proposed the “Canteen of the future”, i.e. the development of a greener canteen with the adoption of specific renovation measures such as, for example, the installation of some smart waste bins.

The cooperation and synergy with the University of Bolzano represented a very important starting point for the company’s innovation and strategy, which will continue in the years ahead.

MATILDE project: facilitating work integration

Markas Italia is a partner of the MATILDE project coordinated by the University of Eastern Finland. The MATILDE project, which originated in the South Tyrol area, is designed to facilitate the work integration of people with a migrant background. Through this project, the company was able to create its Skills Profile, a valuable tool for enhancing the soft skills of the individuals on whom the project is focused. Caritas and the Free University of Bolzano also contributed to this activity.
